Odd part desire(tiny joysticks like Neo Geo Pocket Color's).
« on: February 13, 2007, 11:56:38 pm »
So...Would any of you know where I could procure a tiny joystick that works like the Neo Geo pocket color's without having to tear one of those beauties apart? Small differences are okay, but I'm mainly looking for that perfect clickiness that makes just about any game oh-so-easy to play on it while holding the thing in one's hand. Any ideas?

While there have been a few, controllers that use microswiches are extremely rare. Even if you can find one, it'll probably be the switches mounted on a circuit board underneath.

What do you plan to do with this? If you have a larger enough area, you might be able to adapt a full-sized joystick to do this. Or scratch-build something that uses standard microswitches as the mechanics of a joystick are very simple. Precision would probably be your biggest challenge there.

I agree the NGPC stick was awesome. Actually the whole NGPC was awesome. I still play mine sometimes. SNK vs. Capcom wouldn't be half the game it is using a gameboy's directional cross.
Brevity is not my strong suit.

Not quite....

Basically, imagine an arcade joystick.

Now make the top flat.

Now shrink it so the top is...I'd say maybe half an inch max.

Basically, it's a tiny arcade stick that fits into about as much space as a common handheld dpad.

As for what I want to do with it...I own a GP2X, and was thinking it'd be awesome to pay someone with some serious skill to tear out the joystick on mine(which is digital but 'feels' analog) and switch it for an NGPC one.
