Greetings,
I just stripped the old overlay from a Robotron conversion control panel. Now there is a bunch of tacky glue residue left on it... and I am having the darndest time getting the residue off the wood

...
Does anybody have any tips for getting old glue residue off a wood control panel???
I have tried Goof Off...

, but it just kinda absorbs into the wood

and barely softens up the glue, I guess it can be done that way but it would take days to do... very laborious...
Tried rough grit sandpaper on an orbital sander, but it just kinda puts dust over the tacky surface so it is not tacky anymore, but the glue is still there

...
Just bondo-ed the extra holes, and I have the new overlay ready... I am thinking if I can not get all the glue off, I can just sand it smooth as possible, then primer the surface and put the new overlay on top of that...
Any body have any suggestions???
