Cool cabinet idea.
« on: February 02, 2007, 08:40:52 pm »
I was in Costco the other day and seen all there monitors were hooked up to a monitor signal splitter and thought it would be cool if I had 2 extra monitors to create a double sided 4 player cabinet.

or a 6 player xmen cab.  i cant think of many games that would need that many screens unless you make an fps cab (remember a custom doom cab in some movie or tv show).

Namco had a 3 monitor sit down racing game very similar to pole position back in the 80's.   There were a few arcades around here that had it but they didn't get much play because they were 75c or $1.00 a game when regular pole position was only 25c.

That's what I'm hoping to do to one of these after I restore the other  :)

The versus city cabinets are for 2 player games, each player sits on a side and gets a screen to themselves.

A duel monitor would be great if you want to play 2 player games like 1942 but like smaller control pannels or don't want to be close to someone.

I was thinking of a similar strategy a while back but when push came to shove, it was just going to be way too big.  Moving it and even finding a good spot for it would have been more than wanted to deal with.

If you have the space, I would say go for it, it would be very cool.

Here's a link to what I was thinking.
