ArcadeVGA and WG D9200
« on: April 04, 2003, 10:12:08 am »
Ok I have a WG D9200 and an ArcadeVGA.  I'm having some issues with the display modes.  Here's what I've found so far.  I'm using the 15-pin connection on the D9200 in case that matters.

Modes that work:
640x480 (pretty much any refresh frequency EXCEPT 60 Hz works) all the way up to 200 Hz.
800x600 Only works in interlaced mode with a frequency of 42Hz (or something really close to that, I'm not in front of the PC right now.)
1024x768 Only works in interlaced mode which is as advertised for the D9200 so probably not an issue.

Any other mode other than the ones listed above produces an "Out of Range" message on my D9200 or is all jittery/blurry.  The combination that is really bugging me is that it's unable to do 640x480 and 800x600 at 60 hz (this produces the jittery/blurry picture).

I would say this just must be a limitation of the monitor, but I pulled out an ATI 9700 Pro from the PC that was able to run at several more refresh frwquencies.  I'll put it back in tonight or tomorrow and document all setting that work on the 9700 and the ArcadeVGA.

I just wanted to find out if others are experiencing the same thing I'm seeing.

The 9200 should easily be able to display all of the ArcadeVGA modes perfectly (and more besides seeing as it can go up to 31Khz) so something is not set up right, possibly the drivers.

Can you email me about this and we can try to find out what is wrong

Andy,

I thought arcadeVga would only do 15.75 mode.  So it will actually support all three modes of the 9200 (15.75, 25, 31.5) ?

If so I'm buying one for my 9200 !!

I believe Andy is referring to the monitor, not the ArcadeVGA.  The D9200 is capable of displaying all of the ArcadeVGA's modes and then some because of the D9200's horizontal & vertical sync range.
