Kid-Cab driver seat...?
« on: January 30, 2007, 09:39:12 am »
I am going to be building a cab for my kids and I wanted to make it a driving cab as well as stand-up. I have a design in my head and once started Ill post in new projects, but what I'm looking for is a small seat for kids? I thought of using a car seat or a platic seat like you would see in a elementary calssroom, but I was wondering if there is anything else out there???

What a great idea! The kids will think that you are GOD!

I'm curious about it doubling as a stand up as well as a sit down. Can't wait to see that come together.

Then also, try to find them a comfy seat. I like the car seats myself cause they would be the ultimate for a driving game. I mean how more real could you get. Go to the junkyard and find a little Toyota or Honda or something and find the smallest seat you can find and it will probably be cheap too...

GOOD LUCK ON THIS!! I might have to copy your design!!

A booster seat would work pretty well I would think.  Depending on the size of the kids of course.  Plus they come in some pretty fancy, race-looking, designs these days...
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

What D.K. said ... go with the smallest actual car seat you can find.

Or an old riding lawn mower.

You'd be suprised how many boneyards, oh, excuse me, "Automobile Rrecyclers" have stacks of old seat sitting around. (no pun intended) :p

Take your pick from the lot, and quite reasonably priced too.

When I mentioned car seat I was speaking of a childs car seat. They have so many available and some even some in nascar designs. The only ,problem with those are they are made to sit in another seat not on their own so they are very steardy by themselves.

As for standup & driver, the cab will look basically like a small driver cab but behind the seat have a standup CP.

I like the boat seat.
I have a pontoon boat and know well the seats you are talking about.

Conversion Vans have the same type of set up.
Pull a pin and the captain chairs pull up.

I know you wanted small. The boat seat sounds like the best bet.

Perhaps a go cart seat. It looks more like a car seat then a boat seat.
