Hey, Patrickl, how do you like that phone? I'm thinking about upgrading from my N-Gage QD. I'm particularly interested in how easy it is to use it as a regular phone, hows the sound quality, etc. And any other thoughts you might have on it.
Well I'm not sure what to say. I love my phone, but it sure isn't for everybody. There are plenty reviews. For instance:
T-Mobile MDA review on InfoSyncIt's really quite big, but it doesn't bother me really. It can almost replace a laptop. The flat fee dataplan helps too. I'm online wherever I go. Yes I'm an internet addict. Because of that I would not have a phone without a keyboard. The full keyboard is a bit nicer than a thumbboard. I have a Clie NX with a thumbboard which works fine too, but the full keyboard is just much better. I even use it to take notes during a meeting.
The sound quality is great, but I sometimes miss a call. Not sure what happens, but when i accept the call it's just cut off. Guess I press a wrong button or so. It's a bit confusing because when you open the device to see who calls it will change screen orientation. Also, it takes about 2 seconds before you get the call through. That can be a bit annoying, but it's not really a big issue. I would guess a PalmOS phone would work faster. My old PalmOS PDA (which I use for reading e-books in bed) works a lot faster than my MDA Pro (which has a processor about 2 or 3 times faster) Windows just wastes a lot of processing power.
I'm waiting for the new model coming out. This will be slightly more compact, have twice the internal memory, have a second screen on the outside of the shell, support HSDPA (which is claimed to be even faster than UTMS) and maybe have a VGA out. I have not seen offcial specs though. Not sure if these upgrades will be enough to warrant me buying a new phone. Especially since my MDA Pro still works fine, but still.
