Would it be possible to hack 2 plug and plays into one cab???
« on: January 26, 2007, 07:27:32 am »
Ok Im just wondering ....Im thinking of building a small bartop cab with a Ms Pacman plug n play in it.....Would it be possible to put anouther plug and play inside it as well...and have both wired to an arcade joystick and buttons on the CP??I know I can use one of those boxes with the switches on it to change the AV input from one plug n play to the other....could you run 2 and connect both to the CP????Just an idea??If you could run 2 then I guess you could run 3 or 4 plug and plays inside a cab?

If you use a parallel switch box, you can wire several plug & plays into your machine and just switch a dial to determine which one is on and connected to the controls.
There is a good example on here of a multi-plug n' play cabinet. I believe it is Markrvp's. Someone will post the link here shortly if you can't find it, rest assured.

I know I've seen examples of people doing this, but I can't find them. I would think it would be fairly easy.

You could just hack the controls and power into an old serial, parellel, or vga cables. Then you could use a switch-box designed for that purpose. I don't remember how much power the plug-n-plays use, but I would think that it would be low enough to use the cable's wiring.

Another option would be to have a switch to control which one gets power from the wall wart.
I would think you could just wire both systems into the controls at the same time. It's not the best way to do it, but it should work fine. It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to run seperate grounds and have a switch to control which one was active for the controls.

Brevity is not my strong suit.

I think this is the project you need to look at.
