Outputting RCA to PC
« on: January 24, 2007, 05:40:21 pm »
When building my cabinet 2 years ago, I purchased a Creative Inspire 2.1 speaker set and a pair of Pioneer car speakers. I scrapped the PC satellite speakers, and spliced their wires into the car speakers. Both use standard RCA connectors that go into the Creative subwoofer.

Since finishing my cabinet, the sub has remained behind the cabinet. I'd like to consolidate things now, but obviously can't move the subwoofer into the cabinet (large magnet + computer = not good). As such, I want to get rid of the sub, and will need another way to connect the speakers to my PC.

I'm pretty sure that I can't use an RCA-to-PC adapter, as I would still need something to drive the speakers. Should I be looking at an amplifier, or something else?

Yeah,

You are going to need an amp of some description.
Then just a 3.5mm plug from you PC to RCA input on the amp (if thats what it takes)
Then connect your speakers.

Fairly simple stuff.
