American controls in Candy Cab?
« on: January 24, 2007, 01:34:44 pm »
Hey guys I'm thinking about investing in a Naomi Universal cabinet, my question is will my 360s and happy pushbuttons work in the control panels? also is it possible to make your own control panel plate with trackball in the middle or is there not enough space? thanks for any input

Absolutely no way! there's just not enough depth in them. Even the Sanwa sticks in them are a tight fit. I know cus I just scraped a 50" projector version of the Naomi Universal.

Most bottles and jars contain at least twenty-five percent recycled Pacman.
And research indicates that Space Invaders are strongly attracted to people who have recently eaten meat pies.

I have a Windy and HAPP supers are currently in it and they barely clear. Not the same cab but the CP is approximately the same depth.

If you are talking about the big US NAOMI Universal (stand up) there is enough room. If you are talking about the sexy white Japanese NAOMI Universal the CP is too shallow as previously mentioned.

Are the Naomi cabs really that shallow?  I've only worked on SEGA candys and TAITOs, and there was definitely room to go around inside the control panel.

ya I was thinking bout buying the naomi universal stand up the sexyyyyy version haha. So then my next question is how do those ball top joysticks feel. are they switches or optical? and can you replace the ball top with bat tops?        thanks. Its a shame I have no time on my hands because of work, I have most of my UA2 cut out just dont have time to finish it, been 2 years. Have all the hardware bought and everything, even laminate. Maybe one day I will finish it for my brother.............. until then.

They feel great! They're a perfect 8 way or 4 way stick.... Get the shallower Sanwa ones. They're a microswitch stick just like most others and yes you can get Bat Tops to fit them.

ok well I think I'm gonna pull the trigger on this one. New Astro City Cabinet. Gonna try to get one wihtout a monitor so I can throw my own in there...... I can always add a usb hub to the front of the controls for light gun games!! and to add my own trackball mini control panel plugin thingie!
