Geeezzz!!!
What Jake does, he does for free!!!! For the benefit of this community. If some of the plans are a little out from where they should be then tough! Nobody forces you to use them.
If you have an issue with the plans Jake provides you FREE OF CHARGE!! and you have correct dimensions that you can prove are valid, then I've no doubt he'd be happy to hear from you PRIVATELY!!
To do this on a public forum is just plain rude and ignorant, and IS therefore insulting to Jake, wheather you intended it to be or not. That's what CheffoJeffo was trying politely to point out to you.
Best Regards,
Julian (Fozzy The Bear)
P.S. His Defender Plans are absolutely bang on the nail.
Calm down dude, Rocking_Rick didīnt say anything insultive or down-grading. He just asked if Jake possibly did miss the fact that a wide-body is just not only a bit wider than the standard Nintendo-cab.
I can understand Rick, he doesīnt want to spend the labor and money for an unsatisfying endresult.
The biggest problem I have with the plans from Jake is.
I dont know how they was made and how accurate.
The measurements are in inch, which is a catastrophy.
There are too much features are not covered.
I also say, its for free and who ever wants to use it can do.
Jake did someting for the community for free and that is always a good thing and so he is a very good example for the rest of the scene.
The tendence to team up to fight, especially where no problem is, is a big problem on all sites and did never bring something positive out.
I dont see the point to start an attack for no reason here, Rick did nothing bad or wrong.
As for plans, I made many considerations about this and developed my very own system called POS (parametric outline scan) using the sketch feature of solidworks.
This is the only possible way to make 100% accurate plans + since Solidworksis a industrial CAD-software every CNC-carpenter can cut out the parts.
You just send the files and get the cabinet...or a puzzle to make the cabinet.
Here is how the system works:
