Using Gameshouse games in a cab?
« on: January 18, 2007, 11:04:43 am »
I have a selection of Gameshouse games I wanted to use in my bartop (http://www.gameshouse.com/), they are controlled by the mouse and I was wondering if it was possible to get these to run through Mala, although I suspect not as theyre not run by an emulator.  Has anyone tried anything similar?

There ARE front-ends that can launch any EXE file you specify. I don't know which ones.

The next thing you might consider is a touch-screen for input, though trackball might do too.
NO MORE!!

GameEx allows you specify program files than can be run in addition to emulators.

Yes, but that is a question for the Mala users - Loadman will probably see this thread sooner or later...

(I use another front end...   ::) )

I have played many of the gamehouse games on my cab while using Mala as my front end, and I did not find it too difficult to set up.  (Actually it wasn't too difficult after Circo came by to help me :cheers:)  I used the same set-up method to install and launch Wincab on my cabinet.

As far as actually playing the gamehouse games, many of the games require a trackball to play, but are still great for cabs.  The only problem is some of the games are not re-mappable, and would play better with a joystick.  Platypus is a classic example that has been pointed out before.  (I realize that there are some programs to work around this, but I haven't tried them yet.)

I actually got turned onto Feeding Frenzy when I played the Ultracade arcade version of it at a local arcade.  The great thing about many of these games, you get the classic arcade "feel", with up-to-date graphics.  The Ricochet series is a great example of this.

Here are some screenshots with how to set up mala for pc games.  The easiest thing is to make a directory and place .lnk files (windows shortcuts) from the actual executables of the games.  Those are your "rom" files so to speak.
