Trackball Settings

At long last the cabinet is up and running but I'm having a hard time getting the "feel" of the trackball right.  It seems too slow and doesn't have much momentum when I spin it.  I'm using an Imperial/Betson trackball and an Opti-PAC interface.  I assume that the settings to be adjusted are in the Mame Analog Controls menu but mucking about in there just seems to make matters worse.  What settings do others use for classics like Centipede or Missile Command?  Thanks.
