Most disturbing game ever

Michael Jackson's Moonwalker. Something about a robotic Michael Jackson just creeps me out. And yet, I continued playing.  :dunno

Is this like a thread where we post what we think the most disturbing game ever is?

If so, then you need to play Chiller.  Much more distrubing than Michael Jackson's moon Walker.

Journey. Beats them all hands down...

What's up with that freaky alien head thing?

And, seeing the little journey guys with digitized heads and cartoon bodies?

Freaky!

When I first saw that one in MAME, I figured it was a bootleg or something. I was very surprised to find it was a real deal arcade machine. Very cool game.

Another vote for Chiller.  Disgusting.  Has anyone actually seen a Chiller in the arcades?  I can't imagine that game would have been allowed anywhere that kids could see it.

Not only have I seen it in several arcades, but in a department store as well.  I recall looking at it and thinking to myself "WOW, that one's a bit over the top.  And poorly done"  :)

But yeah, definitely not for the little ones.

That's funny. I just posted this in the "Best non-classic games" thread:

I was overcome by the irony of "Michael Jackson's Moonwalker" when I played it this morning before heading to the office.

You are Michael Jackson, trying to collect small children as you make your way through streets beating up bad guys with a magical lazer that comes out of your finger and a special dance move that kills all bad guys on the screen. Also, if you collect Bubbles the monkey, you turn into Robo-Michael, and shoot more powerful lazers, all while a clunky version of "Smooth Criminal" babbles in the background.   :police:

A true non-classic classic.

A-he-he! Ow!
I'm with stupid.

There is a shooter from the late 80's or early 90's that depicts what looks like the World Trade Center being destroyed in the intro.
I can't recall the name of it, but it was posted here. Just a very creepy thing to see in a game even though its a total coincidence.

Yeah, takes the game to a new level of disturbing when looking back on it. Smooth Criminal. I recognized the music but couldn't remember the name.

I rememeber stumbling across SplatterHouse in a Japanese arcade in the late 80s. It was such a shock at the time. Now it seems so tame.

But that was before I became numb to being shocked by other creepy or suggestive games to be found in a Japanese arcade.

What's even more weird: Japanese would probably still find that Moonwalker game more fascinating or entertaining than creepy.

I remember a game called Slaughterhouse that was kinda creepy for its time.

You were some dude dressed up like Jason with a hatchet and go around slicing up monsters.

That was Splatterrhouse, as mentioned in an earlier post.

Sinistar scared the bejeezus out of me.  I first played it in '87, just as Christmas Break was starting.  I know it was old by then, but it really didn't seem like it.  Then again, I was between an environmental Disks of Tron, Sinsistar, and a sit-down Spy Hunter for most of that trip.  They had the volume cranked on the cab.  Sinistar screamed as he flew onto the screen and I was freaked beyond words.  I was shaking like crazy.  But, like a good horror movie or thrill ride, I kept going back.  That was probably the best arcade trip I ever had.  The difference between then and now?  When Sinistar says "Run!", I let him have it.

just played chiller and splatter house. Both are messed up. Chiller is much more sick though, plus it reminds me of maniac mansion which was also kind of disturbing.

Splatterhouse for the TG16 is one of the greatest portable games ever, played on the TurboExpress.

I have to nominate Custer's Revenge for the Atari 2600.  I remember people picketing the video store in the mall when this one came out.  I won't go into details of the gameplay because it is not appropriate for this forum.

I only had the demo of Carmageddon and I played it for months (even with the time limit).  Nothing quite like the Splatter Bonuses and Impaler Bonuses you get for running over people.

I don't know if that one made it into the headlines here or not.  I was a bit young at the time.  I did get to try it out through the wonders of emulation.  I've got a feeling that my getting pretty good at Custer's Revenge isn't something that qualifies for bragging rights. :dunno

It's not an arcade game but... I remember when I first played Resident Evil on Playstation (1). I played it at night, everytime something jumped out to kill you, and that gamepad rumbled, I about pissed my pants. It was a combination of great graphics (for the time), creepy music, and stimulating gameplay.

Of course those ghosts in Pac Man were really creepy too :)

Chiller - nasty game. The bowling alley by my house had it. I used to play it a lot when I was 11 or 12. I still can't believe that was a real arcade game.

It was one the first roms I looked for when I found MAME though.

Same thing with custer's revenge, I never saw it then, but my friend's older brother told us all about it. I had to find it when I found the Stella emu.
