New forum - vendor selling board
« on: January 03, 2007, 11:12:48 pm »
We're mulling over the idea of breaking the buy/sell/trade forum into two forums. One would be for most users to buy/sell/trade what they've got. The other would be for vendors who are selling to the BYOAC community (ponyboy, divemaster, slikstik, etc...) to sell what they've got. The main benefit would be to give vendors a home to sell things without them either 1) getting lost in the rest of buy/sell/trade or 2) cluttering up the BST forum with a dozen sticky threads.

Opinions?  First question is whether or not people think that's an idea worth following up on, and second question is whether it should be a sub forum of the BST forum, or a top level forum of it's own. We seem to be leaning towards it being a top level forum.  Oh, name suggestions are welcomed also.

Not a bad idea... it would eliminate a few of the stickies in the BST...

also it would help because instead of a very long thread you have to read to find out what new thing they have to offer they could make new threads withouht the fear of them being buried before people see them....

My biggest gripe with some vendors is that they don't post pictures to give you an idea of what they are selling at times....

I think it's a great idea as well. I also agree with missioncontrol on the length of some of the threads...(ie ponyboy 10 pages, divemaster127 19 pages). It can be frustrating looking through them.

Name? - Vendors Store, BYOAC Vendors

Excellent Idea...

Keeps things clean/organized, and gives us two different (and more importantly, seperate) "malls" of sorts... one filled with commercial entities, and one filled with yard sales...

Thumbs up from me

I always miss out on product announcements and such since I don't frequent Main (don't have any MAME cabs).  This would be a good place to keep up on the new/recent products without losing it in all of the Main traffic.

I don't like the idea of having to go to 2 different sections to buy stuff.

I would also like to remind vendors that they could set up a free store at http://www.gamersmarket.net to help display the stuff they have to sell....

I like it, I would even like a bst sub-forum for "everything else" like consoles etc.
Hell, I even posted a van here and sold it, but I would have put it elsewhere if possible.  Thanks! Ron

Hey Saint, looks like that forum area is set to a default board theme that's forced down?
