A few miscellaneous questions
« on: January 03, 2007, 07:39:03 pm »
Hello,

I'm researching to make on my first arcade stick and a questions have popped up.

First off, I'm planning on using a DS2 for the guts. I plan on remounting the analog sticks for use  in the Panel. From what I've dualshocks are difficult to work with due to a variety of reasons, but do Dualshock2s have the ribbon pinout like the DS1 series A and are there pins in that pin terminal for the Analog stick potentiometers.

I've decided to go with Happ instead of Ultarc for the parts this for this stick. From what I understand p360s will not work for the DS2. That leaves me with the Super and Competition. Which stick handles most like a J-stick, and do any of the happ sticks have adjustable throws?

And on a random note, are there any uses for the Normally Closed terminals on arcade parts?

                                                                                                                                       Much Obliged

Have you looking at RetroBlast's reviews?  There is a table with stats like travel distance near the bottom of most joystick review pages.

The supers engage distance can be adjusted by bending the switch's arms, but AFA total throw, not AFAIK.

To detect open control panel, open coin door, & open cabinet in some cases.  AFAIK, not much else in video games.  I think using NC is more common in pinball games, though.

You have to remember that the switches are also used in industrial and other areas besides arcades.
