USB Connection Issues
« on: January 02, 2007, 02:40:09 pm »
OK...all of a sudden,  I am losing and then re-aquiring my USB connection that my JPAC is connected through.   If I don't touch the control panel for a bit of time,  then go to play a game,  it will play fine,  then a few seconds in to the game,  I will lose USB connection momentarily (you can here the usual Windows USB de-dunk sound) then it will reaquire the connection.   I can deal with the sound,  but I lose control and actually the entire game freezes for about 1/2 second each time it loses and then reacquires the connection.   If I keep playing,  there seems to be no issue...but if I stop playing for a while then go back...same problem again.

At first I thought it was me bumping the spinner and IT losing connection then reacquiring,  but i've determined it is the CP itself...which goes through the JPAC card.

Any suggestions?

Try the following:

1.  Make sure all cables are securely attached.
2.  Make sure that your BIOS and/or Windows is not cutting power to the USB port. (Not likely, but possible.)
3.  Try a different cable.
4. Try a different USB port. Do this last, since Windows will redetect your JPAC and assign it a new USB ID.

Good Luck.

Does it only happen while you are playing a game?
Try to start up a game and let it sit for a while, see if it happens then.
What about while just using windows? (like typing in Notepad)

I am betting it's a simple connection problem caused by movement during gameplay. Once saw a motherboard with a bad solider joint at the usb connector.  Kind of rare but might also cause this.
