Looking for Info on Rush N Attack Game *Updated*

One of the guys I work with had a friend that was cleaning out his garage. He knew I was building a cab and asked if I wanted a free arcade game as the guy was going to throw the game in the dumpster. It's a Rush N Attack game but it's not original or something.

1. Nothing on the control panel is labeled.

2. There is no coin door.

These are the noticeable differences from what I'd consider an actual arcade cabinet. It works great. The only thing I had to do to it was put a new plug on the power cord and put a new lock on the panel that opens in the front. There is also a piece missing from the back of the cab or maybe it's supposed to be open. I'm not sure.

Can anyone give me any more info on this game? I don't know much about Jamma cabs. Is this a Jamma cab? Some kind of conversion from something else?

Heh.  The game that got me back into the arcade hobby and led me to BYOAC was a Rush 'n Attack.  I did a bunch of reading on the thing at that time.

Rush 'n Attack (called "Green Beret" overseas) was not shipped as a dedicated game, as far as I know- so every one you see is a conversion.  As such, the control panel overlay (you have the right one) didn't come with button labels printed on it, as Konami didn't know where the buttons might be located on the  control panel the op was converting.  There were some button lables the op could stick on in the appropriate places; looks like the guy who converted yours didn't bother.

The cab is probably not wired up JAMMA, as the Rush 'n Attack PCB is on the "Konami Classic" pinout instead.  It's possible the cab is JAMMA, and the PCB is just plugged in with a Konami-to-JAMMA adapter; a quick peek inside should show you if it's got an adapter or not.  If it doesn't, you can get a JAMMA-to-Konami adapter farily cheaply to plug in JAMMA boards if you want.  Or you can just stick to Konami Classic games; there are quite a few of them.

Thanks for the link with the dip switch settings. Any ideas as to why there is no coin door?

Not really important I guess. More of a curiosity than anything else. Thanks again everyone for your replies and info.

I totally did not notice that.  Somebody must have pulled it and replaced the wood with a piece with no hole for a door.  So I'm guessing there's a credit button somewhere?  Note: Don't leave the thing sitting there with credits in it, the attract mode doesn't run with credits and it burns the monitor. Mine had clearly been in somebody's home, because there was bad screen burn saying "Push Start to begin" or whatever the start message is, along with "99 credits" 

Also, if you want a coin door, PM me, I've got a few to get rid of.

Ok. It's been a while but I got curious about this cab that was given to me so I went looking inside. Looks like it used to be a Congo Bongo at one time.

I don't know anything about Jamma! Plain and simple. Is that a Jamma connector on the pcb or just a (normal ??) edge connector for a upright cab?

Rush 'n Attack is not JAMMA, it's Konami Classic.  There are a lot of other boards available that fit that connector, and you can get JAMMA-to-Konami adapters that will let you hook up JAMMA games in your cab without re-wiring it as well.
