Streetfighter and neogeo fighter joystick question
« on: December 26, 2006, 06:21:12 am »
Hi,

I want to build one control panel mainly to play all the Streetfighter 2 games and the neo geo fighter games (king of fighters,s.showdown, garou mark of the wolves etc)

What were the original joysticks used in the arcade machines for all the various Streetfighter 2 games and neo geo fighters?

thanks

kowal

SF2 USA  - Ultimate
SF3rd JAP - Seimitsu LS32
Midway (K!, MK) - Competion
SNK JAP - Seimitsu LS40

With so many Street Fighter machines being conversions, you also got a very large number of machines with other sticks on them.  In the US, mostly Happ Competitions and Happ Supers, in addition to the Happ Ultimates Kowal mentioned.

Capcom needed a new joystick for street fighter 2 when it was first coming out. Capcom went to Happ and they designed the competition joystick specifically for street fighter 2. I got this information directly from Happ  Controls but who knows, they might have just been trying to make a sale. Remember when SF2 first came out on SNES and capcom issued the official SF2 arcade control for the snes, it was called the "competition stick", I bought it when it came out back in the 90s and it contained a Happ competition joystick, i don't think this was a coincidence.

Hello, 911? It's Quagmire. Yeah, it's caught in the window this time.

Competion is product iL . Happ designed Ultimate joystick for SF2 (and therefore this joystick is crap :) )
