Bill Validator... I finally got it working.

Ok, I figured this Bill Validator problem out and now I'm able to pump all of my hard earned money into my UMK3 machine.

This is for ARDAC UpStackers, in case anyone picks one up and needs help with it.  I got mine off of ebay for $30.  There are 8 wires coming off of the Bill Acceptor, here's the breakdown...

(top row)
Black (hot)
White (neutral)
Yellow (N/A)
Blue (+ for the coin slot)

(bottom row)
Brown (- for the coin slot)
Yellow (N/A)
White w/ yellow stripe (neutral)
White /w blue stripe (hot)


I cut an extension cord and used it for power, Bill Acceptors need regular old 110v juice.  Wire the slim blade of the extension cord to the Black wire and the White /blue stripe.  Wire the fat blade to the White wire and the White w/ yellow stripe.  That'll give juice to the motor and the stacker.  Then wire the solid Blue and the solid Brown to a coin slot.  It doesn't matter which is which, they're interchangable.  I had to adjust the coin multiplier in the game's settings, otherwise you only get one credit per dollar.

Actually, bill acceptors come in several voltage configurations and you have to read the model number/serial number nameplate on the acceptor to see what voltage it's designed to work on. The three common voltages are: 120 volts AC, 24 volts AC, and 12 volts DC.

You didn't mention the Ardac model you have nor the connector it had. Ardac had several different connectors on their acceptors: 9 pin AMP Mini Mate n Lock, 12 pin AMP Mini Mate n Lock, 4 pin Amp Mini Mate n Lock, and 18 pin dual row header. There's a company that makes a ready made power/interface cable for Ardac acceptors at www.pyramidacceptors.com

Money Controls bought out Ardac several years ago and promptly closed up Ardac & sold their assets. Vendor's Exchange International (www.veii.com) has many Ardac parts still.

Dude, where were you when I was scratching my head trying to figure out anything I can about this Ardac thing (It's an Ardac USA3, by the way)?  I searched everywhere and couldn't anything helpful.  I finally just started experimenting until I got something that works.  I'm gonna check out those links, though.  Thanks!
