Question about using 'tall balltop' with T-Stick (it seems too long)

I just bought a T-stick along with the balltop replacement stick and I'm a little confused about using the new balltop, because it seems to be too long.

I unscrewed the nut from the bottom of the bat-top and put the balltop shaft in.  However, unlike the bat-top, the nut & washer on the buttom of the balltop doesn't sit flush up against the bottom of the joystick base.

In other words, the ball top shaft itself can move up and down (by pulling up on the stick) by 3/4" or something like that.   I feel like maybe there is a spacer or something that I'm missing.    The bat-top had a 'sheath' that slid over the shaft and sat just underneath the bat-top itself.   Is there something like that I should be using?

Sorry if this question is confusing, I'm hoping that somebody'll know what I'm trying to ask and that there's an easy fix.  If the question isn't clear, let me know and I'll try and explain again and I'll take pictures or something.

No sweat man.  I'll see if I can rig some kind of spacer or whatever.   I don't even know where I'm going to install it anyway.   I just always wanted to try out the T-stick and I'm not a fan of the bat-tops, so when I saw you had this for sale, I figured I'd give it a shot.

In any case, if anybody else with a T-stick or T-stick plus can confirm/deny or suggest anything, I'm interested.

This may be a dumb question, but is the bottom section of the joystick (the part that goes below the CP) thicker on the magstick-plus than on the T-stick in the picture?

Going by the pics, they look like just about the same devices to me. If you mean the metal mounting bracket, that looks the same to me.

Actually I mean the part 'below' the mounting bracket.   My guess is that the "plus" makes the mechanics of the joystick a little 'deeper' (lower into the CP) which is why there is so much slack with the shaft I have.

It's like the shaft I have is too long for the joystick.  The difference is that it's a "T-stick" and not a "T-stick plus".  If the T-stick Plus (and mag stick plus) have some additional equipment on the bottom (the "plus" portion) then that would explain why the shaft I have is too long.

The T-stick plus does have a longer lower shaft. Because it's spring loaded, it requires a longer shaft to keep it from engaging and trying to 4/8 switch in the middle of a game. Switching a T-stick plus is accomplished by pulling up on the stick and rotating it. So when you let do, the spring drops it back down into a disengaged position. Follow what I'm saying?

That was my original plan, but now I'm actually thinking about adding something to the TOP of the shaft (above the joystick base but below the dustwasher).   Maybe even cutting down the spacer/sheath that comes with the bat-top because I think it'll fit perfectly.  This would not only give me a little more throw to the stick (which has a pretty short throw), but also make it a better height for mounting in a wood CP.
