Is there a shorter stick that will fit J-Stick
« on: December 16, 2006, 11:30:11 am »
I'm using the J-Stick for all my dedicated 4-way games. I top mounted this puppy and the problem is it has too long of a throw for most games(At least for me). Is there anyway to shorten or replace it with a shorter stick?
Any thoughts or suggestions would be great!

I think a J-stick is really made by Sanwa- you might have a look at replacement Sanwa handles.

1. You can change handle to original Sanwa. Andy has longer handles for wooden panels.
2. Mag-Stik has short throw.
3. Buy UltraStik and made own restrictor.

Anyone know how short the regular length ball top handle from ultimarc is? I believe the J-Stick is 70mm (at top of the balltop)

Well Andy just let me know that the T-Stick will not fit the J-Stick base. Also the lengths are the same anyway.. Looks like I'll just live with it.

Nope, the T-sticks are a totally different product, from a different manufacturer.  You're looking for a Sanwa handle, which Andy does not sell.

Thanks guys. I thought that JLW and J-Stick from Andy were one and the same joystick?

Himura yes, I know I ordered my black ball top from Himura and it took a little over a month to receive, but I got it.

I didn't think that Ponyboy carried Sanwa parts otherwise I would love to order from him.

He definitely carries some Sanwa parts.  I currently have an order in with him for Sanwa balltops.

J-Stik has base from JLW. Mountplate and handle is different.

Remember that mountplate in JLW-TM-8 can be different than in J-Stik. In Sanwa catalogue JLW-UM-8 has mountplate identical as J-Stik. JLW-TM-8 mountplate is a bit different.

Maybe for J-Stik ball-top Andy use whole base (base + mountplate) from JLW-UM-8 and mount own handle.

I'm looking to replace just the stick as my mounting plate is recessed into my CPT and the artwork is already adhered over it. So, in order to replace the mount plate I would have to scrap my CP art. Is the JLW-UM-8 handle any shorter?

If you want to change handle only then buy JLW-TM-8 and replace hadnle with your J-Stik. JLW-TM-8 handle is shorter than J-Stik.
I wirte about mountplate for info only.

:D kowal's site again.
http://www.kowal.itcom.pl/ArcadeParts_pliki/JLW.htm
On begining is:
Quote
Na Ultimarc joystick ten jest dostępny pod nazwą J-stick różni się jednak długością trzonka który ma 72mm podczas gdy wersja katalogowa Sanwy dostępna w Japonii ma 62mm
J-Stik = 72mm
JLW = 62mm

10mm shorter.

Hehe, yes ;) These are 6mm (screw-thread diameter) balltops. Saimitsu and Sanwa balltops are 6mm, some (battop for example) is 8mm but are sells with 8-to-6mm adaptors, then fit to all balltop joysticks.
LB-35 and all other 35mm balls (Bubble Seimitsu for example) are standard 6mm balls.
