Happs Competition or regular buttons?
« on: March 30, 2003, 02:27:29 pm »
Anyone have any opinions on either? I'm going to start my fist control panel and I seem to be stuck on this problem. Its probably not even that important but I'd like to get it right.

If im not mistaken , i think the competition buttons are the kind that have the convex and not concave surfaces, but i could be mistaken.  It can get kind of confusing keeping all this stuff straight sometimes.  lol.
I am working on my first project as well and man - o -man it can sure be confuseing and down right frustrating just trying to  get a concrete idea nailed down on how you want to do things in your own panel. :)

I prefer the ultimate horizontal pushbuttons to the competition pushbuttons..

more authentic with older arcades :)

(it's not a leaf but the style of button is more authentic)

only application I have heard people like the competition is for fighter games..

What button do you recall using when playing in arcades ? Concave or convex ?  90% of the games I played in the past used concave buttons weather it be micro switch or leaf switch so for me the obvious choice was concave.

I don't remember EVER using convex buttons in the arcade.  It could be because I haven't been to an arcade in a few years, and when I did go I usually played the older ones :).  But I can't imagine using convex.  I'm sure it's fine for Playstation and XBox controllers, but this is arcade stuff.  It just ain't right :)

I went with competitions because they were cheaper, & I wasn't so worried about authenticity.(at least not at that level)

BTW, they work great.

One thing I've noticed is that there are no 1 and 2 player buttons made in the "compettition" style.  So if you use comp buttons for your CP, you'll get to use classics anyway for the player selection.

It seems a little odd to me... somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

They do exist, I've seen them in arcades. Whether or not you can buy them from Happ though is another matter.
