  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
This is sort of vague, but this is my plan and I was wondering if you all forsee any problems with anything or availability like with happ parts etc. Also maybe a rough estimate of parts minus the cabinet/paint things like that to finish it.

Arcade machine:
27" monitor, classic tube style like they used in arcade games. (Also this will create a virtual 19" monitor for pac-man/galaga etc right?)

Games I'm concerned about
Pac/Ms Pac-Man.. does Mame have roms that accurately support the sped up version of these games? Where the pacman moves fast but not the ghosts? Is it a separate rom or some kind of option?
Galaga.. rapid fire? Separate rom or some kind of cheat? I don't like the cheat version.
Metal Slug games?

Two competition joystiqs, a trackball, a 4-way pac joystiq and buttons.

Maybe make it a jukebox too.

Basically I don't want the machine to scream mame or anything, I want it to look semi authentic.

hmm what else
well thats it
"Yeah... at least he built a cabinet. I can't wait to see yours. "

aahahahaa

That monitor will run you about $600.00. The other controls can be cheap or expensive, it's really up to you as you have a lot of choices when it comes to joysticks and trackballs. If you like trackball games get a good one, I have a 3" Happ USB and it works great. For joysticks I went with some cheaper 8 way's and they work fine for me, but I see the need for a 4 way or switchable 8 way.

Whatever you do order your parts from the vendors on these boards and save yourself some money. Just post what you need in Buy Sell Trade and the vendors will respond. Good luck!

Do my eyes deceive me ?

Is Lew going to get his wish ?

Is VaporCade really coming ? Or was it NonCade ? I forget.

I, along with the other "nerds", anxiously await your posting of progress, including pictures.

I can't wait to see what 8 years of preparation produce !!

 ;D

Cheers
