Mounting question for LCD Top Guns sticks

I haven't seen where this was discussed so I though I would ask.  Since my glass on my cab is fairly flush with my bezel I was wondering if it would be possible to mount the led strips behind the bezel and just make some holes for the led's?  Has anyone tried this?

Yes... It's perfectly possible to do that. The gun just has to be able to see all the LED's. It even works behind smoked glass.

Excellent, one last question, I have a ps2 hooked to my cab through a video input.  What kinds of issues if any should i expect if occasionally I want to unhook them from the pc (while on) and hook up to the ps2?  Looking forward to some time crisis action.

I guess I will answer this question for myself by monday but the curiosity is killing me.

Errmm Sorry?? you lost me here.... you have a PS2 What (a mouse a keyboard a trackball?) hooked to your cab??  The Topgun uses your USB ports not the PS2 Ports.

Would it not be alot neater to decase the lightstands, and drill the holes with the proper spacing for the  leds on your arcade screen plexi?

These aren't complicated devices.  Just an IR light source.

It'd be a lot neater to hide them behind the plexi and no go drilling holes in it. He could drill holes in the Bezel and have the plexi in front of it. That's probably the neatest solution.

Sorry to breath new life into an old thread.. I'm thinking of mounting the strips behind the bezel aspostalp123  did. My question is do the LED lights have to shine through also?  What I mean is. Could I just cut a small enough hole leaving just the IR sensors exposed and keep the glowing LED lights hidden behind the bezel?

Whats the purpose of the LED lights on the stand? Can I remove the bulbs?

Part of the gun calibration is to shoot at the LED light and because that is the only one you can actually see is lit, it's the only way of telling if the stands have power on them.

Bummer. I would think playing other games with the LED lit would drive me crazy. I suppose I could toggle some kind of toggle switch for the stands.

They are inferred... IE you can't see them 'lit up'.  You might want to have a switch to cut power to them though.  This might save energy and increase their life span

But having them behind smoked, turned on... you wouldn't see them at all... having them outside a smoked bezel, you wouldn't know if they are turned on or not.

Last... mount them horizontally.  They will be closer together (assuming your monitor is mounted horzontally) and then you can get a bit closer.  You ahve to stand about 3x farther away then they bars are from each other.  And you just need to change the order when you calibrate it (start at the red dot and then hit the edges in order as if its swapped 90 degrees)
