Trackball Mounting Plate
« on: December 10, 2006, 09:37:03 am »
I noticed they sell this mounting plate that makes it to where no bolts go through the CP. Does anyone have the plate and have a picture of how it mounts? I was wondering if it is worth the $10 to buy it.

Joe,  it is a square plate with bolts on each corner than slide through your CP.  In the middle There are 4 other bolts that are used to support the trackball.   If you use the plate,  make sure to use a router and FLUSH MOUNT it because just dropping on a CP without flush mounting looks like ass.

Here's a photo:

Notice the square "routed" part around the cut out "footballish" looking cut-out?  Being that the trackball gets quite a bit of abuse (you should see how people fling that thing in Golden Tee) I would HIGHLY recommend a mounting plate.

Remember - mine is going on a stock machine. Does it mount the same on the steel CP?

The only way to go on a steel panel is going to be tacking four studs to the bottom of your CP, since you don't want bolts showing.  The metal mounting plate on top of the steel CP probably wouldn't look so hot.

OK - thanks for the info. I pulled out my new CPO and it already has the holes cut for the bolt holes, so I'll just stick with the stock application.
