Mala key mapping problem
« on: December 07, 2006, 07:20:23 pm »
It seems like the form that lest you map keys to menu behavior (Ie, launching a game) only lets you enter printable characters.  I use the default MiniPac layout which has Left Alt for the P1 fire button which is what I'd want to use for launching a game from the Mala menu.

Is there a config file I can edit or something to type in special codes to get the menu actions to map to characters that are unprintable from the Mala GUI?

Hmmm It seems you can allocate some (Like alt and delete) but not ctrl.

Have you considered changing mame default keymapping (easy to do)?

How do I remap the keys -- is that something I should do by reprogramming the MiniPac, or is there a higher level key mapping I can use?

Also, wouldn't remapping cause all my game configs to change?  It's easy to fix for the ones that use the general, but the rest that use custom key mappings would all need to be updated as well.

Thanks,
Jason

I think one of the problems is that Mala uses ctrl as the "shift" key. So if you changed launch game to the ctrl key, then you wouldn't be able to use the shiftable functions like page up/down.

O yeah ;D

So you can set allocate the 'ctrl' key jlfreund

You just need to allocate the shift key to something else first  :applaud:
