Happ Bezel mouting questions?
« on: November 28, 2006, 06:48:09 pm »
I have the 27 inch happ bezel.  I also have a 27 inch sharp TV.  How do you think I need to mount it in the cab.  Right now the bezel is not a perfect fit for the cab.  That is okay though.  I have it centered and it looks real nice.  I need to know how some of you mounted your bezel though.  I dont know if putting some velcro on the tv would work because like I said I pretty much just have it centered.  It lays kind of on the TV, but it doesn't lay perfectly on the TV Casing.  Maybe like 4 little mounting blocks would work.  I am not sure.  Any advice?

Most definately I am not screwing up this TV.  It is a nice TV...  I will try to figure something out.  Once I trim the bottom part I will hopefully think of something.  I don't really want to put any blocks in there to mount the bezel on.  Maybe I can just make velco work somehow.  I do want to use some velcro somehow.  Any ideas guys?

I used velcro . The TV I used isn't a flat screen, so the bezel pretty much fit the contours of the screen but not exactly. On the TV I put strips along all four sides of the screen. On the bezel side, since it is angled, only a little bit more than 1/4" of the velcro makes contact with the TV side. I thought I would have to put a support along the bottom or something to hold it, but no.. the velcro holds it rock solid. Its actually kinda hard to rip the bezel from the TV.

So all four sides like top, bottom, left, right of the TV.  Close to the screen right.  Cause that is where the angle section is hitting on mine.  Did the velcro stay good on the actual bezel though since it is angled and not much but a 1/4" of the velcro is staying stuck to the bezel due to the angle on the backside of the bezel.  One more question.  How wide did you make the velcro.  Did you just do the 1/4" wide.  Also what length about were the strips.  I figure about 3" perhaps in length ought to be good?  Thanks for the post buddy!

I cut the bezel to fit and then kind of held it where I wanted.  Tracing the sides gave me a place to mount ledgers.  Cut and mounted ledgers (1x2 craft grade).  Paint the ledgers black and then screw the bezel into the ledgers.

Looks good.

Yeah, I did all four sides the full length of the screen. Probably a bit overkill, but hey it works. The strips are 1" wide and 10ft in length, and I have about 3ft left over. http://www.velcro.com/consumer/products_um.htm

The bezel around the TV screen has a bevel of about 1/4", so I started it there and wrapped it around the edge. It held good, but after taking the happs bezel on and off a few times the adhesive doesnt hold... probably because the velcro i used is very stiff and not meant for angled surfaces like that. Cosmetically it didn't make any difference, as the happs bezel has its own lip that covered up that part.. and the TV screen isn't obstructed at all.

On the happs bezel I used the fuzzy side of the velcro which is more flexible and can hug the curves.. in the picture you can see the 1/4" or so that sits on the edge and makes contact.

The good thing about mounting the bezel straight to the TV is that you can change its position without having to worry about mounting blocks on your cabinet.

I think that covers everything.

bvicarious great instructions.  I will go with your idea.  I have about 4 inch strips of velcro.  I am going to see how they hold up.  That way I can remove it easier.

My TV is not a perfect fit for the bezel.  Man your TV sits smooth with that thing.  I have mine centered as best as I could get it.  Folks could see the bottom part of the TV case just  a tad, but it is not noticeable once the games are going.

Smoked plexi hides a world of sin.

Yeah the last thing I will do when I get everything else done is smoked plexi.  I am needing to get a 2' X 4' feet thing of birch plywood for my control panel box.  I botched some wood see...., but Home Depot here in town were out.  I am going to try again next week and call before I go.  Then I will try Loews one town over.  Anyone here ever by 2 x 4 sheet from loews?
