Hey guys.. i have a new betson kortek 27" monitor that i bought for my mame cabinet.

I got everything setup, but i have a question.  On the left side of the screen, there is like a 2" strip that is slightly "lighter" than the rest of the monitor. It runs vertical from top to bottom.

If there is somethign with color on the screen, you cant really notice it.. but when its black or very dark on the monitor, you can see it...  It's really kind of a small thing, but still annoying for a new $500 monitor.  Is stuff like this normal or should i think about returning it?

Secondly in the bottom left corner it looks kind of purplish.. like a magnet is nearby..  once again its a small detail but still annoying

im using a radeon 9700 pro video card @ 640x480. I have an arcade vga card on order.

I tried deguassing, other than that none of the settings/adjustments seem like they would effect this.

any advice? should i try to return it?

thanks

that strip is either some sort of software setup problem or foldover fault,if you have a magnetic bolt or a speaker near the screen that will cause the purple discolour in the corner
a way to prove if the strip is a setup issue is(if you have a digital monitor) to disconnect the signal input and get into screen menus to see if you still have this problem

i did as you suggested, disconnected the monitor from the pc.. i still see the strip on the "no signal" screen, so it must be the monitor.. its really not that bad, but annoying in dark games.

and frustrating when you pay $500 for a new monitor

we'll see what their support is like.. its been 30 days since purchase

shanebuss,

This is normal. If you turn down the brightness it will disappear completely. I returned my first monitor because of this white line on the left. Got a second one and had the same problem.. I can't remember how far I had to turn the brightness, but it was a good amount. The monitor still looks awesomely bright and I have mine behind smoke plexi.

The discolor on the bottom is possible a degauze issue. This should go away with time. These things are affected by gravitational pull and it's been moved around quite a bit during shipping and warehouse storage. If it's really bad you might buy a deguaze coil. First try reposition your cab and see if this will make it better?
