I know the cost to produce the steering probably justifies the price tag, but for me, and additional $30 for what equates to a large "knob" is a little too much for me to stomache. If there was a way to get it dow to the $19.95 price-point, i'd have likely ordered it along with the rest.
I am also VERY curious as to the duribility of the unit when attached to the steering wheel...wheels tend to get pulled and pushed, bumped, etc a lot...will the spinner hold up?
Please refer to where I stated that the wheel is not suitable for commercial environments, or where it might be subjected to abuse outside of normal use. Those who have purchased the wheel will understand immediately why it has the price tag it does. They are not little plastic toys. I wish I could get them cheaper, but I cannot and there are a number of things I must do to them to allow them to be used with the TurboTwist 2.
I have looked far and wide for "cheap" steering wheels and this is what I could do. The alternative would have been nothing, so I'm taking the chance that some may want one at the price necessary for me to do it. A few have opted for it, so they will likely be reporting on it soon.
BTW, if the steering wheel is pulled, it will come off. It's designed that way. If it's pushed (I'm not sure why anyone would be doing these things, but..) it will be fine. It's small, so you can't get the same kind of leverage you might be thinking of with full-sized wheels, and if you break something with it, I think that would have to be your initial goal.
I will be getting some more info out there on the knobs. Big Blue is 1.75" in diameter by .820" tall and is a hefty, but not heavy knob. All of the pictures showing them are at the same scale as each other. The stock knob is 1.25", so you can use that as a reference.
All of the knobs offered are considered lightweight and would be best used with the ESC for spinner-type action. Those who primarily play the paddle and analog dial type games, and most definitely those more interested in the steering wheel (which weighs over a half-pound,) can probably skip that option.
The band on the "rubber" knobs goes very nearly flush to the top. The dome is very subtle. I think they look good, feel good and perform well. No "bling" awards, but it's only a couple dollar option.
CAN I HOOK MY HAPPS TRACKBALL TO IT?
Yes, but you will need to add a couple of pull-down resistors and you'd be limited to the Z-Axis unless you use a switch to share the X or Y axis.
May be true, but the "skirt" is there for the fingers to rest on.
How do you rest your fingers on something that is spinning? (J/K)

(How many are left?)
More than will be in a few days if the first version's sales were any indicator. We'll try to make sure we don't keep running out of these like we did with the first version.
