Whats the newest version of mame that allows skip_warnings?
« on: November 24, 2006, 06:01:20 pm »
I'm running an older version of mame and I can't figure out what the newest version of mame is that allows the skip_warnings without having to recompile mame. Anyone know off the top of their head?

Don't you mean the oldest version of MAME that allows this?   :police:

It must be my memory thats faulty... I thought that mame allowed skip_warnings up to a certain version and then it was removed in the newer versions. The only way to skip them is to recompile your own version of mame.

I am for a version of mame that allowed us to skip all messages including the unsupported cocktail messages and video not 100% messages and was old enough to play Gorf at a decent speed.

Im using 0.99 that allows you to skip the disclaimer, I think it was a little after this version that it stopped.

IIRC only derived/unofficial builds of mame allowed all warnings to be skipped. There is no skip_warnings option in official MAME.

However, older versions of official MAME (up to and including v0.99 but I don't know how far back) allowed all warnings to be skipped by using -ftr 1.

You'll have to excuse my ignorance here, but is "-ftr 1" something you can put in the ini file or does that go in the code somewhere?

Launch Mame with that as a switch:  mame.exe -ftr 1

I just tried "mame -ftr 1 romname" with version .108.  It did skip the warning and went directly to the game, but after a second or two it booted me off the game.  Sadness.

In .108 "mame -skip_gameinfo romname" works.

It has to be version v0.99 or older. Please try that.

You can put ftr 1 in your mame.ini so you don't have to type it in every time.
