More than 8 Text Fields in Mala Layout?

Is there any way to display more than 8 text fields in a mala layout? My layout includes an image of my control panel and I want to overlay a text field on each control (p1 joy up, p1 joy down, p2 button 1, etc). For Player 1, I need 9 text fields. Controls.ini supports player 1 and 2, and more than 8 controls but it looks like Mala (at least in the layout editor) supports only 8 text fields, and doesn't support Player 2 controls.

An Idea:

It looks like a lot of your text fields line up.

Have you tried sharing a text field between two or more controls with SPACES in between so the relevant Control info ends up in the desired area?

Thanks Load. I'll try combining things into single text fields.

SWindus, here are a couple of "wish list" items:

1) Support more text fields in a layout. Perhaps 24 instead of 8.
2) Support more variables from controls.ini. Namely, all the P2 buttons and joystick directions.

I've been playing with Mala for a few days. I think it is a great front end!

Why not just use CPV2, it's meant for just that.

CPV2 looks like a great application, but what I'm trying to do is display control panel assignments "on the fly" while navigating the Mala menu.
