Planet Web v2.6 (Dreamcast)
« on: November 22, 2006, 06:09:46 am »
I made a back-up copy of a battered Planet Web v2.6 disc.I followed all the steps and everything seemed to do fine(after I made a year's supply of coasters). So,I put the disc in my dreamcast and everything did fine as well. The only thing I'm having trouble with is that when I click "connect" I get a message saying "Initializing Modem",well it never connects,it just shows the same message;I even let it sit for about 20 minutes and when I came back it still said,"Initializing Modem",it never connects or gives an error ,it just says the same thing.Whats going on here????

My dreamcast is from Dec 1998,I'm using CDR 80min/700mb cds.My ISP is mfire dial-up.I'm pretty sure none of that is the problem, mfire has worked on all of my other games, and I've even gotten on the internet with it(using Sega GT).My settings are the same as what I used for my games,so thats not it.

Please Help.

Well,I got tired of waiting for a reply so i went out and bought a new copy of the web browser.I'm still having the same problem.Anyone know why it won't connect, but only says "Init Modem";how f****** long does it take to initialize the modem?

Never played with the modem on my DC, but it sounds like a problem thats NOT software related.

Simple checks:

Got Dialtone?
Can you swap the modem module out with a known good one?
But wasn't it fun to think you won the lottery, just for a second there???
