Aloha,

I just got my hands on an old Final Fight Arcade Machine. It works, but the picture does this weird fade to blue thing during certain parts of the level. It is also missing the coin boxes and it has been set to Free Play. It has  Jamma board in it, but that's about all I know about it. When it is doing the fade to blue thing it also hums a bit. Not terribly loud, but noticibly.

I would eventually like to set it up in the lounge of my apartment building since I have permission, but right now it's not really in the kind of condition I would like it to be to be in public.

Can anyone help me out with it? I would love even a link to something to get me started. Any help is greatly appreciated! Posted below is a pic:

thats a nasty fault to find,it could be a number of things.
game board faulty
power supply breaking down
monitor fault
when you say it fades to blue do you mean you lose graphics or does the screen become flooded with blue
i would start by checking your power supply voltages are stable,check all connections especially the jamma edge connector,if you had another game board you could swap it in to see if the fault is in that area.

The colors get "washed" with blue. You know how the skin tone on these old games is usually a warm tan color? It looks like there's some kind of a washed grayish-blue filter over the top of it when the screen changes. A lot of the times when you progress to the next level it goes back to the original color and then eventually it overtakes the screen again.

Not sure if you care or not, but your machine was originally a Zaxxon. I had a Twin Eagle in a converted Zaxxon. That's one heavy cab!

Wouldn't hurt to replace the 15 Amp switching power supply:

I suggest a cap kit on the monitor (even if it is not the problem).  Both power supply and cap kit are good things to do to an old game in order to recondition it for reliable service.

You could try getting a cheap JAMMA board off Ebay and putting it in there.  Either the same game, or a different game.  That should tell you if it is a board problem or not.
