Free Cabs in Kentucky
« on: November 20, 2006, 04:18:17 pm »
I have 2 cabs that need new homes!!  FREE - come and get one or both!!  I am beyond being out of space so something has to go.  Either would make a great MAME cab or, as I was going to go, a home for a normal arcade pcb.  Here is what I have:

Cab 1 is a decent Universal Space Panic / Mr Do! cab.

Scroll down looking at the pics of the cabs on the right. It looks like the cab that is 2nd from the last one pictured.

It looks like the last one pictured. The white one with the yellow and orange stripes.

It has the coin door but no mechs.

Control panel is on it but covered in a funky camo themed overlay. I am going to guess it has been modified slightly. It still has the original 1up/2up buttons. Looks like the game was originally a 1 joy 2 button game.

The game button holes may have been opened up a little as one has a standard leaf switch button in it instead of a button that looks like the 1/2up buttons.

All the monitor mounting hardware is still in it – wood monitor frame and the blocking that holds it all in place.

The cab has been painted black.

There is a monitor glass as well. You can see the Space Panic art from the back. The front has been painted black around the edges.

The marquee is gone but the retainers are still there.  It has a florescent fixture already in it.

Both back doors (upper and lower) are there as well.

The only real problem with this one is at the front to the right and left of the kick panel.  On these cabs the kick panel is recessed a tad, not flush with the sides.  As such the lower front corners (of the side panels) took a little beating. They are beat up about 2 to 2 ½ “ vertically by about an 1” back.  Basically the outside radius of the curve at the side meets the floor.  Beyond that the paint and t-molding is ugly!!

Cab 2 is a converted Atari cab.  I am going to guess it was a Centipede.

At one point in time it was some kind of Sega baseball game.  It is painted black with large SEGA stickers on the side.

The CP is setup for 2 joys with 3 buttons each.

This is a very solid cab in great shape.  It has the monitor mounting board in there so its just a matter of bolting in an arcade monitor or modding it for a PC monitor.  The monitor glass is there as well.

It has a marquee in it from the baseball game so it still has the marquee retainers.  You may be able to reuse the marquee plexi.  I have not taken it out so I don’t know if it’s a card or if its actually stuck to the backside of the plexi.  I am pretty sure there is a florescent fixture in there as well.

It is pretty much empty otherwise.  No wiring, no controls, no coin doors.  For a MAME cab that may be best as I am sure you would want your own style joys and buttons and the associated wiring.  As to the coin door.   I would cover the hole with some smoked plexi. Perhaps a lighted ”credit” button mounted in it.  I am helping a buddy with a multi JAMMA now where we are doing that plus adding some colored lighting behind it for effect.

If interested please post here or PM me.  I will try to check back often.

Louisville.  Just across the river from New Albany and/or Clarksville Indiana.  About an 1 1/2 south of Cincinnati.

I'm interested in Cab 1.  I'll have to drive up from Lexington, but I should be able to get there sometime in the upcoming weekend.  PM me for further information.

Hey Thargok,

Sorry to take a few days to get back with you.  The holiday kept me running and, to be honest, I forgot to check back here.  Anyway, I shot you a PM and an e-mail to the address in your profile.

I still have cab 1.  Someone picked up cab 2 on Sunday.  If you, or anyone, wants it just let me know.  I need it gone!!!  One way or another its going...soon.
