Broken joint

Hi, I just got this home and took the shrink wrap off to find a large crack at the top of the cab. It appears that the joint that was routed out for the cabinet top has split.

If I glue it, clamp it, and put some wood screws in it do you think it will hold?, Or does anyone have a better solution? Thanks.

What is the white stuff in there?

It looks like someone already caluked or tried to glue it.

that stuff is probably going to have to come out for you to get more glue in and get the joint to close.

I would glue and clamp, I would try to avoid screws at this point. Glue is stronger anyway and you will have no holes to fill.

The white stuff is just from the camera flash, the split is clean. If I push it together it fit's perfectly.

Well that makes is a lot easier 

I would get as much glue in there as I could and clamp it.

First thing you'll have to do is clear out any loose particals that are keeping the joint from easily closing back into it's natural position.. including any possible old glues or whatever from past fixes..  Then, i'd go to a store like woodcraft and pick up a glue syringe and use that to get glue all the way down in the crack.. load it up good, then use a couple cauls and a bar clamp and give it some nice even pressure for about 24 hours.

Thanks for the advice. I shot a lot of glue in the crack and clamped it tight. I will leave it clamped until tomorrow night. Thanks again.
