Hi, im a registered user (razor) but cant sign in due to the problems going on so thought id post it here..

I'm at the stage with my bartop where I need to configure the joysticks/buttons etc, but ive stupidly overlooked one vital thing - I have no power switch to power on the motherboard    I brought the bits seperatly so have no case, and unfortunatly I dont have any spare cases around.  I didnt want to have to buy a new case just for the front power switch and the small lead, so I was wondering if theres anywhere in the UK I can buy these seperatly. 

Just to clarify its the power switch on the front of the pc and the small lead going to the motherboard to power it, not the switch at the back.

If I understand correctly, you can extend the length of the two wires that go to the power switch by cutting them and soldering in any length of wire to make it long enough to reach to anyplace on your bartop you want to mount a switch.  Here is a picture of what I did to mine.

You can't see it in the picture, but I cut the white and green wires, added about 6 feet of new wire to each of them, and then connected those really long wires to a button at the top of the machine.  I use that button to turn the copmuter on and off.  You can see the wires and the power button in the second pic.

Thanks for the reply, I get that about adding wire etc, and adding a button, but what im saying I dont actually have a wire to connect to the motherboard, with the 4 holes for the pins, I was wondering if I can buy them seperatly anywhere, without actually having to buy a new case, just for that.

I one time found a thread about using a capisitor to short the pns on the mb, but I never could find the diagram again, it was supposed to stop the need for an additional switch like I used on my pc.

The mb would power up when the cabinet switch was turned on.

anyone have the diagram?

if the aim is to allow the pc to start up without the use of a switch then you can do that on an atx psu by shorting out 2 wires on the mb plug,trouble is i can't remember which i would need to double check tomorrow and post then( ithink its the green and blue,but please let me double check)

Hi, I had already checked Maplins and that other site doesnt have any either.  Looks like im going to have to buy a case afterall, thanks anyway.
