Did I fry my IPac?

Late last night I was hooking up my IPAC.  Inside of my CP, I actually have a bolt that has a wire that runs to my PCs power supply for ground.  I normally hook my wrist strap up to that.  Anyway, it was late and I had to get something from across the room (so I unhooked my wrist strap).  When I went back to the CP (forgetting to reattach my strap), I touched a switch and got quite a shock (seemed like more than static).  The only wire hooked to the particular button at the time was the ground that runs to the ipac.  The computer wasn't on at the time, but the light on the IPAC was on and still was after the shock.  I immediately fired up my computer and ran the test program to see if it registered any key presses on the IPAC.  Nothing.  I unplugged and replugged in the USB connector to the IPAC and that didn't help.

At this point, it was late and I didn't want to make any other mistakes, so I shut everything off and went to bed.  I'm going to re-check the wiring to see if there is anything obviously wrong there.  Is there anything I can check the IPAC with?

I would try to reprogram if that does not work it is dead

I tried to reprogram it and I get ERROR 0x7 - Checksum Error.  Sounds like it is dead.

I wouldn't toss it out just yet. Andy down at Ultimarc can probably still help you out. He can probably replace the chip for you. He's a great guy who's knowing for going above and beyond in customer service.

If the self-test LED on the I-PAC flashes once, then stays lit, it is likely to still be OK.
The first thing to check is whether it still shows up in Device Manager. If it does, try right click and uninstall, then unplug/reconnect it.
We can continue the troubleshooting via the email which you have already sent.

Andy probably doesn't even remember, but he helped me out a few years ago with an I-Pac of my own.

Yes.  Andy is the best!  He helped me troubleshoot the IPAC, which we couldn't get working.  After that he just said he get me a new chip out in the mail.  Not many people would do that for you.
