Coin Mech
«

I am over halfway finished with my cab, and now I need to get a coin mech. I only want 1 working coin slot. Do I need to go buy one of those expensive over/under doors, or will a simple roll down mech do the same thing. I found a website that sells some parts, and they had a new "Nintendo Replacement Coin Mech" for $25. (

). Will this work just the same as the other coin doors I see, or is this one different somehow.
Thanks for the input.

Nope, that'll do the job, no need to get a full door. That said, I got a similar mech for $9.95, although mine looked plainer. There are other similar mechs that look more like the standard arcade ones with lighted entries, such as

. For me, the lighted reject button just screams "arcade", but that's just personal preference...

So, can I just buy the mech that your link pointed to, and then just cut a hole for it, and rig it to the door? Does that mech require any other hardware to work, or is all the other stuff just for looks and convienience.
Thanks

The mech is complete; you just need a bucket for the coins to fall into. An over/under door is essentially just a pair of these, two access doors, a coin vault, and a bucket in the vault.
