I know the majority of i-pac users use them in 2 player cabinets. But I'm wondering if it would be much trouble for ultimarc to make an i-pac for a single player cp. I just figured that some people (me included!) would rather buy an i-pac single over the 2 player version.

Just a thought... :dunno

And make it dirt cheap with no screw terminals or anything.  straight solder points and a tiny pcb.  bare bones

C'mon RandyT or Andy?

Maybe even both versions like the I-Pac2. A no solder version and an economy version as you mentioned. I'd be happy with either.

It's just a waste sort of, to use an I-Pac for a single player cp.

You can use the Ultimarc 360 and no ipac - it supports 8 buttons which is enough for a single player CP for the most part.

EDIT: but I agree that a single player ipac would be sweet.

That's interesting. I didn't know that before. It is a bit expensive though, and you can only use that particular joystick. Looks like a very interesting stick.

  • It's Been One Of Those Days... Don't Ask!
What do you guys want here!!!

The Keywiz Eco from Randy at GGG is already dirt cheap for what it does. You're asking for something that couldn't be made any cheaper than that, because it would still require the same number of components and have similar manufacture costs.

Look at it this way... You're actually getting the option for second player controls for free.

Most bottles and jars contain at least twenty-five percent recycled Pacman.
And research indicates that Space Invaders are strongly attracted to people who have recently eaten meat pies.

I just checked the kewiz eco out. It looks pretty good for $21. I don't see how a single player version would require the same amount of components. As for manufacturing costs, there's no way to tell withough it being done.

It was just a thought I had. Nothing necessary by any means. I'd settle for either the keywiz eco or the ipac. It would just be nice.

  • GRRRR!
game pads are fine for one player.
Gravies was the first one I hacked and it worked fine.
sidewinders  work well also ( game port ones. I never tried a usb one)

Token has the kb10
it has up, down , lft , rht , b1, b2, b3, coin, 1p, 2p, grnd ( $18.00 to my door)

I just bought it . I did knot notice it was so limited when I bought it off ebay.
I just wanted to test it out against the key wiz. well .... with only getting it out of the bag ... The key wiz wins on bang for the buck.

stay with the 2 player. more room to upgrade later on.
I can think of a few PC games I plan on building a CP for

  • Eating your legs solves lifes little problems.
It really wouldn't make sense - - all you would save is terminals, as the microprocessor has the capability for 28 either way.

no point complicating the production and inventory...

Isn't there already a singe player encoder (TOKNKB16) ?

The initial units had ghosting problems, but I believe that they have fixed those (NOTE: I don't own one and probably never will as I didn't like the way the owner handled himself here).

Cheers

Yeah I wasn't crazy about the token either.

I forgot about the microprocessor. The keywiz eco is probably the best for the money.

I'm gonna go for the keywiz eco.  Cheapest solution and reliable.
