Full Screen Issue
« on: October 31, 2006, 09:21:10 pm »
Anyone have any idea why all of my games, except robotron, run full screen?

I'm running command-line windows MAME 0.109b, hwstretch enabled, all other resolution stuff set to auto, on an 800x600 desktop.  Defender and Joust run full screen.  Robotron almost looks like it's still trying to run at the resolution it would use if the artwork and bezels are enabled, but I have those all disabled.

Rather strange.  Any ideas?

Yes... It sounds like you've set the global settings for hardware stretch, but have also set the specific settings for that game to turn it off. Take a look at the options you have set and stored for that specific game.

I've tried deleting the robotron.cfg file, AND running from the command line with the -hwstretch option.  Still having the problem.

Did you delete the robotron.ini file too?
Try using directdraw, forcing res to 640x480, no HW stretch (unless using a hi-res monitor).  That yields an almost perfect picture for me on a TV.

Maybe I missed the ini file, but I'm pretty sure I looked all over for anything like that, because that was the first thing I thought it would be.  Wasn't sure if there was just some strange new issue with Robotron, I hadn't updated since .067.

FYI: It was the crop artwork setting.  Even though I told it not to use artwork, it was still using the resolution for the artwork.  Changed the setting to 1 in the mame.ini file and it looks fine.

Seemed a bit counter-intuitive to me, but hey, it works.  :dunno
