Looking for anything free.
« on: March 25, 2003, 04:56:39 pm »
I know this seems stupid but I will take any arcade part.
Pushbuttons switches I don't care I just want some replacement parts if my machine breaks(I'm getting _HoS_'s arcade machines).
I live in Oklahoma and I won't take the parts if you live too far away.I will go to places that border Oklahoma but no further.
Any parts would be very appreciated.
I am new to this and I hope to make my own mame machine soon.:D

Welcome to the gaming community. You'll find that many people are generous in this community, but in general, you need to contribute and trade to receive stuff, handouts are few and far between.

To start your gaming run, check out the following sites for items you will need.  Buttons and joysticks are CHEAP.  You're MUCH better off buying new ones than taking old, worn and dirty ones.  Buttons average $1.50 each, joysticks $8.00 each. Can't do much better than that.

Yeah I've done some research and found most of those sites but I am poor with no money so I will take what I can get.
Getting _HoS_'s machines must of been beginners luck but they will be a big help with my learning exprience.
Well when summer come around I will get a job and make some good money.
Oh where is the cheapest place to get an i-pac?

That's what my wife tells me :D

She says all my hobbies are expensive...  computer hardware.. mame cabs.. paintball :D hehe    WHY DO YOU NEED A $500+ gun?? hehehe  good stuff :)

You might get a freebie here or there.. but to get a majority for free will be tough.. probably take a while too..

I was  just noticing and wondering if anyone can explain some of Happs insane prices. They have some really good prices and some... well... really, really bad.

Bob Roberts seems to be the way to go.  He's honest and his stuff is good.  Too bad you have to send him a check before he will ship though.  He is anti-Paypal.

Amen on Happ prices.  And I'll be damned if they don't arbitrarily fluctuate like mad.  I had a list going in Excel for a week or so of each part I needed to order from them with Item numbers and prices.  I wanted to make sure that I didn't forget to order anything and get stuck with extra shipping and another $25 minimum to fulfill.  I could barely keep up with their prices.  The day before I ordered the trackball mounting kit was $10ish.  The day I ordered it was $17.  When my shipment arrived and I saw the price discrepancy on the shipping invoice I checked the website and the listed price was $16 and if you look today the price is $18.  All this has happened within the last month.

I don't blame him, with all the trouble that PayPal has caused.

I have ordered twice and not had a problem..  paid by personal check..  the turnaround time is still very fast typically less than a week from the time you mail the check to the time you get your stuff..

Oddly enough, I would venture to guess that the easiest free stuff to get is the cabinet itself. Everything else is a littl eharder to come by. Mine wasn't absolutely free, but $50 ain't bad for a cabinet in good condition with the coin door intact.

I meant I don't blame Bob Roberts for not taking PayPal.  I don't take it either.

Nothing but good things to say about Bob.  He's the best.  And he almost always puts a cherry on top.

Mine was $61, but that was with an intact coin door, intact CP with two Happ Ultimates, 12 horizontal pushbuttons and 1 and 2 player start buttons, and the monitor glass.  I think I made out like a bandit.... :)

I got an operation t-bolt (converted to steel gunners 2) a working coin door, marquee, 27'" monitor (very minor burn) and 1 positional gun for $100  the cab looked like crap (steel gunner sideart peeling minor water damage VERY dirty) but it was still a steal!
