Don't the auction folks know that there's a computer inside?

Often they do.  In fact, a single-purpose cab was set up and it was announced that it had a computer inside.  They don't care WHAT is inside it, they simply want it to RUN so they can make more money off of it.  Those are often the games you can see the owners in there monkeying around with the insided during the preview and making sure it's working.

The blatantly MAME cabs often come all set up and don't need any tinkering (smart move, IMO) so you don't see who set 'em up, and the back is locked with the key "missing" but "available to the winner" ::)

Is it illegal, but not really enforced? Like owning roms?

That's prolly pretty close right there.

Radish, what do you look like, and were you there with someone else?  In this pic, I was either just off to the left, or behind all the dart boards.  Black BYOAC hat and sunglasses, "We're all gonna die" T-shirt?

Also, for anyone considering going, it seems as if all the pins were cleared out pretty quickly, and even with the small number of games like there are in those pics, our auction normally has pins from the dart board to almost the wall at the end there.  There's usually about double the number of jukes too, but remember, a LOT of resells, and there's usually more sitdown or larger-type games.

Radish, if you were the guy in the red sweatshirt with the baby who won a juke, congrats, but you seemed a bit greased ;)  Too many Lite's and you end up buying that damn juke that needs work just because "I rhheeleay luuufv eeyuou guysses mhaaan!" ;D

LOL, nah, I wasn't one of the drunks:-)
I snapped that photo just as I was leaving, I was going to hang around until after the auction was over to talk to John about some power supplies he had in his truck, but the way things were going I knew it was going to be at least another hour...
Funny thing is, while the auction was just starting, I was looking around for you, since you mentioned wearing your byoac hat. I imagine half of the hatwearing guys thought I was out to pick 'em up or something, because I was looking at everyone's hat ;D
I would have blended anyway, I look like every other late 30's guy there (except sober)  :police:

I know the guy that went home with the $200 centipede, so at least they all didn't go to the same guy:-)
On thursday last week I helped a co-worker carry a centipede out of that guys basement, turns out, he went to the auction to replace it, he missed it already, and wished he didnt sell it:)

I came in around this point, mebbe a little after:

I stopped at the table to get my bidder's number and meet up with my buddy at Trainfest.  The chick there was slow as mole-asses.  Took me 15 minutes to get my number, and I was THIRD in the line ::)

I showed back up around 1 p.m.

Hey, the missing chunk of games you have listed third, I can't believe that crappy little cabaret Ms Pac went for $500.  Is that the one, or do you remember how much it went for?  That's a consistent resell and I've been tempted to grab it a few times just for the boardset but I don't ever recall it selling for THAT much!

One thing I DID like a ton was the first Golden Tee '05 - the cabaret-looking version.  Happen to get a pic of that?  I'm looking to set up a Golden Tee and someone converted an old Atari Football a few auctions ago, but that cabaret setup looks like an even nicer solution!

Yep, that was the Mrs pac you were thinking of, some of the buyers there, were, how should I say...Stupid  :)

About the time they got to the second row, A guy walked over to me and asked "you work on these things?"
I said "kinda", then he goes on about how he wasn't sure he got a good deal, he just won a Golden tee 99 (the one that went for $700)
He goes on to say that someone said he could update it to 2005 for a couple hundred bucks, lol
I explained to him that he could upgrade all the way up to GT classic, but the graphics would be the same, just diff courses, and that to upgrade it to 2k5 would be anywhere from 400-700 bucks off eBay for the boards..
As we were talking about this, the GT 2003 with the rolling screen went for $500, hehe

My guess is they also made the Tron-looking one.  All the graphics are MAME done in Tron style.

If it had luminated buttons and Mamewah FE, I may know the guy who built it. Can't really make out the side art but if it had a Mame logo and rainbow colored swirly stripes then it is most likely the same one. The guyworks in a shop on the south side. I picked up some used parts from him, nice guy! He built that cabnet for his boss, I tried to get him to post some pics of it here cuz he did a super good job on it.  IMHO.  Don't think he has much time for internet tho.

Was that guy with the stripes down his sleeves standing on a folding chair during the auction? He buys a lot of stuff I guess, into restorations, works at the same shop mentioned above. In fact he picked up the dead Tron cab at the previous auction. His buddy does the flyers for transporting stuff after the auction.
