WTB: (Working) AMD Socket A chip
« on: October 18, 2006, 03:12:20 pm »
Preferably 1.6 or above.  A heatsink/fan combo is needed, too.  Thought I'd see if someone had these gathering dust.
I have a Socket A motherboard (with VC and RAM) lying unused needing 'only' a power supply, case and chip so it can be pressed (back) into service.  My Compaq 5150 (350Mhz) print/MP3 server is beginning to show its age.

That is kinda funny (and sad for me) because I am looking for a socket A motherboard for an Athalon XP 2600+ chip I got that I am not 100% sure works. It came out of a system that didn't boot and I tried a different chip and it still didn't boot so I don't know if the chip works or not. If you don't find a chip and want to sell your board (cheap), let me know. Or make me an offer and if the chip is bad, I will send you your money back. I don't have a heatsink and fan though.

I have an ASUS A7V8X-X that would run that 2600+ if you are interested. Make offer.

I have my own 2600+ and heatsink/fan that is sitting on it now.that I could also turn loose of but not sure if the MB from the original post supports this speed. Make offer.

MnMCaputo: You have a PM.

SteveJ34: If the 2100+ trade/sale doesn't work out I might be interested in yours.  The open MB would not support it (A7V266-E), however my main machine's MB is the Mirco-ATX Asus A7V8X and would handle it.  I'd just have to move processors.  PM me with what you'd be looking to get out of it.
