Super Auction in Mesquite, TX
« on: October 13, 2006, 11:34:38 pm »
Anybody going this time?  I doubt I'll go, but my partner took some of our games to it.  Two nice looking Ms Pacs, two Galagas, and a Joust cab converted to PacLand.

I wanted to go so much today but I thought I was going to be flooded with homework.
That and the folks explained that I can get more machines if I want to be an orphan.

So I'm sitting here at home posting BYOBD - Build Your Own Broken Dreams.
Hope your stuff sells good for you, I've liked looking through your warehouse pics.

Excellent!  That's actually a pretty fun little game.  I played it for a few hours while I had it here.....really kept my daughter entertained.

I went.  Was my first time.   Ended up picking up a non-booting Galaxian for $150.  Really liked the Asteroids Delux Caberet, it needed like no work at all and the screen was georgous.  It went for $450 which was more then I had planned to spend for the day.

Here's how some bidding went down:

Galaga/Pac Reunion: $1150
Ms Pac:  $625, $475, $375, $375, $425, $375, $375, $350
Super Pac: $275, $225
Kangaroo: $125
Galaga: $500, $500, $575, $425, $425, $375, $775
Centipede Caberet: $600
Asteroids Deluxe Caberet: $450
Defender:  was passed on for I don't know why..
Space Invaders Deluxe:  $425
Gravitar:  $450
Star wars: $700
Bosconian:  $225
Centipede: $350
Warlords: $500

There were lots more games, I only cared about a few games and didn't feel like sticking around to what seemed like an all night event.  There was a bit of everything there, including some cocktails which I neglected to photograph.

Anyhow, here's some photos for those who didn't go.  Very addictive!

Thanks for posting these guys, seems there was a pretty good variety even if there weren't any deals per say. And pics are always nice. Last Super Auctions I went to an empty Tempest cab went for $80, looked pretty good shape. And there was a real good looking dragon's lair. Good times. Wish I could grab a decent Candy Cab there someday, they always have a fishing game in em though. Hopefully that means that it already has a Naomi board in it though.

I'm not familiar with pricing but I'm a little surprised Ms. PacMan is worth an average of a few hundred less than a Galaga.

I know this is way too vague, but every time I tell someone to go to one of these they always ask "How much is a pinball machine". Can anyone toss out a good range they have seen these go for? I never pay attention cuz I don't want one really.

CSA3d - Very nice pics. Thanks for taking them. Your camera does a good job. The place we have our auctions is pretty dark - that place seemed to have some good light. I'm always interested to hear the going rates at an auction.

I'm kicking myself.
I wanted to go badly, but was just unable to get away from the family.
Too much going on this weekend.

Wow, a Star Wars cockpit for $150??
That and the Tron I would have loved to have gotten.

How much did the Tron go for?

Thanks for the pics.

Now I got to definately make it to the one in December.

I've been to the last two (July & late Sept/early Oct) auctions at the Milwaukee state fairgrounds.
I ended up buying an upright Star Wars Trilogy cab at the July meet.

Below is a link to Super Auctions website for those of you requesting more info.  The biggest negative
is you don't know the available games prior to the auction.  The July meet had a very good selection
of new and classic games.  Some in good condition and some were major projects.

The cost per game is the winning bid, plus 13% auction fee and 5% sales tax.  Make sure you wear comfortable shoes as you will be standing for a long time and bring some quarters.  The games are available to play a couple of hours prior to the bidding.  However, some are set to "free play" and some
require quarters.

Yeah never liked how some were requiring quarters. Nearly everybody seemed to just keep the coin door unlocked so you could flick the coin trigger mech and try out the machine. I can understand that you might want to lock the door so that people can't reach up in there and take a neo-geo or CPS cart out of there or just pull on all the wirring (to say sabotage someones machine so it sells for less) but all the machines that were locked got close to no play. The owners loss there as far as generating interest in their machine.

I didn't stay for the full pins section, though I did stop back after grabbing lunch to see what was going on and they were half way through things.  The EM's (pins in my above pics) went for 600$ and $400 if i remember correctly.  Modern machines were going for at least $1200 and I think most of them were in the mid $2000s if not close to $3000.

I'm not up on pin pricing really, but I also was curious to know who much they go for.  Seems like you should plan on dropping some dead presidents if you want one.

So a Star Wars went for $700 and a Star Wars cockpit only went for $150?      :banghead:   :hissy:   :badmood:
Next I'll be on fries, and that's when the big money starts rolling in.
