Berzerk Bezel Questions
« on: October 06, 2006, 01:01:37 pm »
I need a Berzerk Bezel for the cabinet that I am refurbishing.
1) Does anyone have one that they are willing to part with?
2) Does anyone have a high res image of it?
2a) Can Kinko's print something like this on cardboard or some kind of thick paper at that large of a size? How high of resolution would I need for it to come out decent?
I've got a fever...

Contact Mr Do! on the MAMEWORLD forums and ask if he can put it at the front of the queue?

First of all, please feel free to post on the MAME Artwork Forum to check whats going on.

I currently have a SCAN of the Bezerk Bezel (Please see attached)

You will notice the quality is very poor due to the bezels age.

I am currently cleaning it....I'll post under neath my current WIP.

What I'm doing is cleaning and restoring the raster scan at teh moment as teh bezel has tons of damage all over it, although from my WIP images you probably cant see it...but beleive me its there alright!

Once complete, Zorg wants to Vectorise it and at that point it will be posted on AAL.

Just be as patient as possibel with this one, unless of course a better bezel comes along that doesnt need as much work on it.

I just picked up a bezerk with a extremely nice bezel..
I'd be happy to help, but don't have a scanner.

Any suggestions?

Where are you? If its possible to send it to Mr Do! or Aaron Giles for scanning that would be the best solution.

Unless you know someone that has a photo quality scanner or perhaps even a local print shop that has facilities to scan large objects...

I'm juggling lots of bezels at the moment for the MAME Artwork Project. Midway's Space Invaders and Ms Pac-Man were the MAJOR titles, then worked on Armour Attack, Shark Attack, Kosmik Krooz'r, Carnival, Robby Roto and I'm still working on Mouse Trap and of course the Berzerk Bezel! Phew!

I'll get back to it fairly soon......and I'll post an update.

Work has stopped as Mr Do! says he has found a far far better source for the Berzerk bezel. Mr Do! Ya could of done that ages ago ! wink wink! ;D

LOL!

Anyway, thats why I have stopped currently.....

Mr Do! BTW has a PC problem in the sense his PC died on him.....he's currently rebuilding a NEW one.....so I wont get the NEW scan until that happeens.

I'm busy trying to get work done and I'm currently talking a breather due to life issues etc.

I'm still trying to get stuff done, but my time I devote to the MAME Artwork Project has really taken a dive....

It disapoints me as much as everyone else....

Understandable, Ad_Enuff. Real life gets in the way of our gaming fun all too often. No disappointment here, just anticipation. Without guys like you taking the lead to get stuff done, no stuff would get done. Thanks for your hard work!

hey im a OZ noobie and this is my first post on here but i have been lurking but never joined

ive actually got 3 of these bezels (2 used and 1 practically NOS) i bought a cab of a guy and he chucked em in for me to chop down to fit it but i couldnt bear to cut down some cool looking artwork the owner thought they were generic. He had them sitting for years on the floor of his shed along with heaps of others and 7 new space invaders bezels all with the paper on the back never been used (taito ones)

was wondering how much are these worth and do you have the dimesions of the size you need i may be able to assist

Hey Narf,
Do you have any pics? I can measure tonight but I'm guessing if they are from Berzerk cabs they will be the right size. Are they glass or plexi? Not sure what they're worth on the open market (especially in OZ as I am in the US) but I would be willing to pay up to $75 shipped for the nice one.
Thanks for the response.

Hey Narf, my bezel area measures 23" wide by 20" high. Do any of your bezels match that closely?

Just reviving a "dead" thread here--any more updates on the bezel?  Anyone have a rough scan? and i'll vectorize it myself rather than waiting on people who have a zillion other things going on....

It's not being busy that's the problem; it's that the person that's 98% done with it hasn't had a working computer for a few months.  Once that gets resolved, we'll be back on track.

Ah ok--I thought it was a case of real life getting in the way and the project stalling as a result--glad to hear its still progressing (albeit eventually)
its better to not post and be thought a fool, then to whip out your keyboard and remove all doubt...

I remember that bezel because I made one.  Many many many years ago I scanned my
original Berzerk bezel and cleaned it up for the MAME team and then submitted a high
resolution version later.  I also did the Venture bezel too.  I'll have to look through my
archive and see if I have the original scan.  Nice to see there is still an interest in the
restoration and development of Berzerk.

Since there is really bad chance to get a Berzerk cab here in Germany I'd like to turn a generic cab into a Berzerk. At localarcade is the cpo and the sideart.

What's missing is the bezel and marquee and they have to be modified for the size fo the generic cab.....would be great if the bezel work would be finished  :notworthy:   :applaud:

So any chance you still have the scan, or the or the high-res version?  What's holding it up right now is both scans I have are pretty rough.

No luck so far.  I'll probably have to re-scan it again.

[sigh]  :(

Is anybody in contact with Ad_Enuff and could ask him if there is a chance that thing will be finished some day??

Maybe he could share his work and somebody else (me) could try to finish it.....

If he wanted to, he would have given it to me by now.

If "sacolton" can find his scan, that will probably work out, as his looks a lot better.

Sacolton can't find his scan anymore...he will have to do a rescan in a shop and he wanted to see how much it costs.

Ad_enuff did a good job so far, it would be stupid if one had to do all that work again  :(

The bezel is complete and fully restored to its former glory!

Obviously the attached picture is only a small version and thumbnail of sorts. The one that will be added to MAME Artwork Project will be 4000 pixels wide with a resolution of 300dpi which is suitable for printing. However the scan I have at home in Photoshop still is even bigger, being 6000 pixels or something in that region.

I keep meaning to say, this is what the MAME Artwork project is all about. Bringing life back to old classic machines. Seeing this repro restoration, really makes me very happy seeing it restored.

 :applaud:

Even if I do say so myself!
