Tank Games - 1st person preferably
« on: October 01, 2006, 08:35:40 am »
Besides the legendary Battlezone and the Bradley Trainer, what other first person tank games are available for MAME?  Not interested in ones that MAME doesn't support.

Just found this one this morning:

The oddly named "Polygonet Commanders"

Anyone else with suggestions?

YES!!

I'm not the only one...I love tanks too.

However, I can't find any COOL ones for mame. Well, there's ASSAULT, which is
somewhat futuristic but a great game(and not first person)

Did you also serve in a tank platoon?

Ooooh.  Another good one, not first person, tho.

Remember this as IRON TANK for the NES:

Okay, so I guess ANY tank game goes now, not just 1st person!

What else you got???

TNK always reminds me of Ikari Warriors:)

This is actually OK.

Not very good:

I couldn't get Polygonet Commanders to work... >:(

Otherwise I'm looking forward to:

There was an old PC game called Spectre VR that was 1st person tanks.  Oh, and Solar7, if you wanna go even further back.

Last time I checked, Cybersled was still only partially working in MAME- 1st person, 2-player head-to-head tank goodness.

Thanx.  Yeah, I had some nice looking games.  All gone now.  :(

Why couldn't you get the Polytankguys or whatever to run?  What was the error given, if any?

Hmm. . .  Did you check to see if it was in self-test mode for some reason?  If you have MAME in front of you and it is a recent version, I'd imagine it may have a list of supported/working and nonworking games.  I'd try and see where it is listed. . .

Well, in the not-working list inside mame, it is said not to work.

As far as I can see(!) no selftest thingy is running...

Awwww.  If it's listed as not working, that's the end of that.  :(

Cyber Sled is another tank-ish game...... not sure if MAME supports it or not.
(I don't have MAME loaded at the moment)

Yeah, that's pretty much the only thing you could do to get it working.  Maybe someday it'll be up and running.  Perhaps a sacrifice to the MAME Gods. . .
