Chrome rings... and not the kind you're thinking of
« on: September 28, 2006, 12:25:00 am »
Well, I've been looking for some chrome rings to encircle a few of my buttons on the control panel and they only promising ones I've found serve another, shall we say, adult purpose. The 1 1/2" looks like it would fit the bill, but the online ordering isn't 128bit secured so I haven't done it. Anyone else know of where to get something of this sort? I found some 38mm ones, but the price was insane.

Haha, well played my friend, well played.

Update: I found something online, it's a chrome ring for appending to clothing, site seems secure. Will update when they come in.

Well I am no prude, I've read a few juggs magazines in my day. I have seen these rings for sale.

But what the heck could they possibly be used for?

All the more obvious uses that flash into my head make no sense.

Why don't you just get some chrome enamel and paint the outer part of all of your buttons?

"vacuum metalizing" = chrome plating of plastic/nylon.

These guys do trophies, so they may be interested in a small order of buttons.  No idea on the cost, or how well it would hold up though.  They'd be a good source to ask.  If you do, ask them about doing the button face as well.  See how thick the coating is and if they think it would last.

I'm seeing a black panel with chrome buttons/joystick...

I sent them an email.  I'll post up any info they give.

Start looking for the work "bezel" instead of ring.  If I'm not mistaken, that's the term assigned to the "ring" around arcade buttons.

I found some items worth researching at my local adult emporium....

I wanted to mount a ring around the 1up and 2up buttons. My buttons are translucent blue and I think it would look mighty dope to have the ring around the bezel itself.

See...the blood flows in, and then the rings make it more difficult for the blood to flow back out. It's for guys who have issues....maintaining.

That's all I'm going to say here, don't want to push the limits of the boards... I'd be there's probably a Wiki about it somewhere, though-lol-there's one for everything else.
