Question re: Old Ultimarc Interfaces
« on: September 27, 2006, 08:12:40 am »
I posted a full project announcement for my second cab (tentatively named Arcade Team Bondurant), but here is a quick rundown of the relevant information.  I built a cab back in late 2000/early 2001.  I purchased a 2P iPac and an Opti-Pac.  On my new cab, I want to use 2 existing 8-way sticks, 2 UltraStik 360s, one trackball, an Apache spinner, and a Happs heavy duty trigger joystick (I admit it, frankenpanel

Not sure about what you'll need for the 360s, but the trigger stick sounds like a regular 8-way in which case you won't need the A-Pac which is for connecting analog joysticks.  As long as you are planning on doubling up the inputs (P1 stick AND trigger stick both connected to same IPAC inputs) I think you should be fine.

Not sure about the differences or this upgrade kit.

In terms of spinner/trackball, the Apache Controls Blackhawk has a primary configuration option which can easily drive both devices. Hookup is easy and works great. Checkout the manual for details on installation/configuration options:
  http://www.apachecontrols.com/manuals/ApacheControlsBlackhawk.pdf

The A-pac is used to drive an analog stick. If this is what you have, the A-pac should do just fine.
However, if you have a typical stick (which I have from HAPP) which is microswitch driven, then no need for the A-pac. Simply connect to any of the KB encoders out there like the i-pac.

I think the UltraSticks are self-contained units which simply plug into standard USB. You shouldn't need an A-pac for those either.
