Repairing buttons- SF2 Hyper Fighting
« on: September 25, 2006, 02:13:44 pm »
I just bought a SF2 Hyper fighting machine, one of the buttons is not working, and they are all daisy-chained, so none work.  Does anyone know how I can isolate the bad connection without a volt meter?

Also, I'm having trouble finding the volume control (noob)!  I know it has one. . . .

Thanks-

WHERE IS THE VOLUME ?
« Reply #1 on: September 25, 2006, 05:42:22 pm »
I know that the volume control location probably varies from machine to machine.  I've tried to follow the wires from the speakers, but it's not working, there are so many wires of the same color in every bundle!

Can ANYONE give me any suggestions of where to look?

Thanks!

Pictures of the cabinet might help...  SF2 was frequently installed into all sorts of converted cabs, so the volume control could be anywhere.  Figuring out what it is/was might help with ideas on the volume control location.

The only part of the buttons that should be daisy-chained should be the ground.  If none are working, I'd start there.

Thanks, I think the prob. is the ground (which I was referring to, need to be more specific!) The p1 start ground had come loose.

will take photos if I can't figure out the volume soon.  The guy that sold me the cab reached into the coin door. . .

Thanks for your help!

IIRC, the SF2 games have a volume knob located right on the pcb. Look for a small, round, white knob (I think it's located close to where the wiring harness plugs onto the board. This all assumes you have an original Capcom board and not a bootleg.
