« on: September 25, 2006, 11:30:08 am »
eBay Link

Do you think these joysticks and buttons would be worth buying? I am trying to build a mame on a budget, but Id rather not buy anything thats trash.

Oh, and would I have any trouble hooking them up to an ipac?

Wrong forum, this should go in Main or Arcade Miscellaneous

EDIT:  Thanks for the move to Main

Those are the lesser quality chinese made sticks & buttons you will not be happy with these if you are use to regular arcade joysticks & buttons

A lot of the sticks coming outof Taiwan come with the restrictor plates now.

Those in the pics are Asahi sticks.

Matador and Compact sticks also have a range with restrictor plates. They are pretty darn good.

The sticks called Matador and Compact which are direct copies of Sanwa and Happ. Those are $7usd each.
Hardly worth it when my supplier sells genuine Sanwa for $7.50 each. The super Matador has a HUGE balltop and is a replacement, I believe, for MS PAC etc and they do come in PINK!!!

These are Chinese Asahi sticks and I wouldn't normally recommend them for use in a full-size cabinet (I don't like the feel and they are not as rugged as the listing implies). The switches are very clicky as well.

Having said that, I bought pretty much the exact package shown in this auction (I got mine from a member here) for use in a JAMMA mini cabinet that I am making for my kids (I love my kids, but not enough to use a pair of Wico 8-ways).

The seller is a good guy, so I find it surprising that he calls it their "strongest joystick" ...but then again I don't think I've ever seen him sell any other joysticks.

Cheers

EDIT: I see spacies beat me to it ... slow fingers ...

Thanks for the help, I think I'll pass on them, I don't want to skimp and then regret it later.

Sorry about putting it in the wrong forum.

The nice thing about eBay is if you wait long enough, the exact items you want will come along.

I was looking at that set too, good price and it looks like everything you'd ever need.

Well, keep looking and you'll find guys selling used stuff from time to time, better parts for less $$$.
That's how I got my parts.  And the dude was real cool, sent me a bunch of extra stuff too.
Not a bad deal if you can wait a little longer.

Seems most people just GOTTA HAVE IT NOW!

Happy hunting.
